Muay Thai, Kick Boxing

A typical class is 60 minutes in length.  It starts with warm-ups, calisthenics, and conditioning.  Various techniques will be taught and drilled.  These techniques will generally involve punches, kicks, knees, elbows, and clinching.  Occasionally techniques will be practiced on or timed drills will be performed on, punching bags.  Time permitting the class will end with light to moderate sparing.

What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is a combat sport from Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques.  This physical and mental discipline which includes combat on shins is known as “the art of eight limbs” because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins, being associated with a good physical preparation that makes a full-contact fighter very efficient.

What do I need?

A water bottle is required
A good quality combat sports mouth guard is not required but strongly recommended
Handwraps and boxing gloves can be borrowed but having your own set is always nice
